Finally, IVF will be carried out, if types of assisted reproductive treatment don’t result in infertility because of infertility causes such as endometriosis. Despite the various benefits of IVF, long time treatment period, its high cost and its side effects should be cited. Therefore, IVF doesn’t work in many infertility treatments in the first step. Its cycle takes 4 to 6 weeks and may require repeated too. The chance of ectopic pregnancy & “Multiple pregnancies”- usually referred to as multiple gestations – is increased by IVF as well. Then, choosing the IVF technique can be performed through consultation with your fertility specialist and investigating its advantages & disadvantages.
How IVF is done?
In simple terms, IVF includes the removal of eggs from woman’s ovaries, semen collection within close proximity of the laboratory. Next, fertilization occurs in these two sex cells, and the zygote is formed. Zygotes continue to grow in the laboratory for a couple of days. After that, one or more zygotes (3 through 5 days after fertilization) are transferred to the uterus from the vagina by a thin tube called “catheter” at the appropriate time. This process can be done without general anesthesia and prescription tranquilizer. Approximately 2 weeks after the transfer of female zygote, a blood test is taken to check the success rate for pregnancy. Before woman’s egg retrieval, ovulation-stimulating drugs such as Clomiphene & Steroid hormones are needed to stimulate ovary of a woman to produce sufficient mature eggs. After egg maturity is observed via ultrasound, a tiny surgery called ” Follicular aspiration “will be done in order to extract the egg. This process doesn’t require anesthesia and is done within 15-30 minutes. Indeed, donated eggs or sperms or even a rental womb can be used for IVF.
